She/Her/Hers

Sandy Alexandre, Associate Professor of Literature, has been a faculty member at MIT since 2006. Her research interests include American literature and culture, race and visual studies, women’s and gender studies, performance studies, and material culture studies. She is married to an artist Renold Laurent, and is also mom to a dynamic and curious toddler named Zora. Sandy is an avid walker and might even have the plantar fasciitis to prove it. She enjoys listening to all kinds of music. She wants to take up playing jazz flute again, and is probably only saying this because saying it in a public forum will compel her to make it so! Stop by and ask to borrow a book or to talk all things Toni Morrison over a cup of nettle leaf tea.

Connect with Sandy via email at alexandy@mit.edu.
