
Joaquín Terrones
Joaquín has taught at the Institute since 2012 and is currently a lecturer in Literature and Women’s and Gender Studies. Joaquín teaches courses on North and Latin American literature, film, and pop culture. He also served as the lead instructor for Interphase-EDGE, a summer program supporting incoming first-year students, and takes a group of MIT students to Brazil every IAP. He has been recognized with the SHASS Levitan Teaching Award and the BSU La-Tarri Canty Award for Faculty & Staff. Joaquín collaborates closely with a variety of campus offices and student groups, including Intercultural Engagement, LGBTQ+ Services, and MISTI.
Outside of work, Joaquín’s interests include science fiction, fantasy, comic books, and video games. He is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, and also speaks a little Yoruba.
